Swimming in a crater lake – Laguna de Apoyo

Laguna de Apoyo is a beautiful crater lake near Masaya, Nicaragua. The boys were keen to swim in a volcano, so we arranged a ride up to a hostel on the lake – we each paid $13 for the taxi and a day pass at the hostel, with use of their inner tubes, dock, and sit-on-top kayaks. It was a great day – Finn’s favourite day yet! The boys found some floating pumice stones, and we swam all day in the clear blue, slightly salty water. Although there were intermittent heavy rains, 3/4 of our family came away with sunburns – Olie still looks pretty good!
